How can I encourage my teenage child to begin planning and setting his or her objective goals that they would like to achieve?

It would be wise to model, display or demonstrate the behavior you would love them to begin and start or continue planning your life because your teenager will watch that. When he or she sees you getting results, he will be more likely to begin planning his or her own life. As Einstein said, the greatest teacher is exemplification.

How do I transition from one industry to another?

It would be wise to make a list of every daily action that you’re doing right now in your business and then ask how it will help you fulfill your future career selection. If you can see that what you’re doing currently is on the way, not in the way to your intended new career path, your energy will go into performing those tasks more effectively and you’ll be more likely to move closer to achieving your newly intended objective goals.

Then look at master planning your new objectives so you’re clear on what you’re going to do, how it serves somebody and meets their needs, and how you can earn an income from it. Planning is key to your ever greater future achievements.

Once this new thing is making you equal money or more money, you can let go of your current industry and say, “thank you”. See it as an essential stepping stone along the way.

Can you give an example of evidence?

If I set out to reach a certain number of people on webinars, podcasts, TV and radio and am not measuring them, I won’t know how I am doing. Evidence is essentially measuring what you are getting done as you pursue your objective goal.

How do I get rid of my inner voice which keeps holding me back?

Anytime you have self-depreciating self-talk, I guarantee that what you’re pursuing is not in alignment with your true highest value but instead is more aligned with a lower valued fantasy. Negative self-talk is feedback to let you know that you’re pursuing something that’s not truly most important or that you’re trying to be someone that you’re not.

I spoke to a lady who felt inwardly challenged. She was frequently filled with ‘negative’ self-talk. She felt she was sabotaging her business. Her highest value was raising her young family, but she was also trying to start an online business that she couldn’t quite get it off the ground.

I said, “Ma’am, your current highest value is apparently your children. You’re fantasizing about starting a business but there’s no evidence of that being accomplished. We either need to find out how creating this business will help you with your children and link it to your children, and look at how spending time with the children will help you develop your business and make those links because when two values are close together, they enhance each other. Or we need to help you stack up enough benefits of building a business that it becomes more of a priority on your current list of values.

If not, you’re not as likely to persevere a goal and achieve it and will continue doing action or not doing action that you might call sabotaging it because it’s not truly highest on your values list. It’s currently partly a fantasy.”

It would be wise to get clear on your highest values and not try to spend so much of your time on less objective goals that are not aligned with your most important values.

Will passion push me forward to achieve my goal?

Passion means to suffer by its etymology.

Passions are transient – they’re impulse-seeking and instinct-avoiding. A passion involves avoiding pain, seeking pleasure, setting up manic episodes, rising up with a fantasy and then crashing because you are unprepared and blinded by unconscious downsides.

An inspired mission is different from a passion. I'm not passionate – I’m an inspired man on a mission. It’s a different energy. It is visionary and patient.

If you want an inspired life, you’re not likely to get it by pursuing temporary emotional passions. Instead you will by being inspired from within, by a mission and by living congruently with your highest values, and by setting real objective goals in real time with real strategies that have real meaning.

If money doesn’t feature on my list of values, what do I do?

If you don't have a value on wealth building, it’s not likely to happen. My experience is that the people who are wealthy and have financial independence, have had contribution, service and wealth in their top three or four values.

Money circulates through the economy from those who value it least to those value it most. If you don't have a value on wealth building, it’s not likely to happen because you’ll keep spending money on things you value more than saving and investing.

You would then possibly be wise to consider shifting your hierarchy of values/ – like I help individuals do in my Master Planning For Life program.

A lot of spiritual texts suggest that in order to reach a higher level spiritually, the goal is to acknowledge that in the present moment, all your needs are already met and suffering ends when you stop needing external things. How do you relate that to goal setting and planning?

As I explain in my signature seminar program the Breakthrough Experience, nothing is missing, but I’ve yet to meet any human being that wasn’t inspired and designed to expand their awareness and their influence in life on a daily basis. It is an innate yearning within us to love to learn and grow.

I prefer not to put spirituality in a box. Everything that an individual does is part of spirituality as far as I'm concerned, including all your objective goals. In society there is a complete spectrum of value hierarchies – from similars or differences. All are valid and serve and can be a source of inspiration or a spiritual quest for the individual yearning to fulfill what is most meaningful to them.

What if I have many values but I am not clear on my highest value(s)?

There's no such thing as an individual that doesn't have a highest value – you may just have to look more honestly and a little closer, do the Value Determination Process a few more times, or come to the Breakthrough Experience where we can work through it together.

Take the time to complete the Demartini Value Determination process online and what’s most important to you will become clear. You can access the FREE online resource here: https://drdemartini.com/values

Do you believe it wise to celebrate when achieving goals?

I personally tend to be thankful and then move on to the next objective goal rather than celebrate every time I achieve one. I find it wise to be grateful for the achievement, but I find it unwise to get elated or manic. If celebration means being thankful for yourself and all the individuals who have assisted in the achievement, then great. But celebrating with an excitement and becoming elated can have distracting and often humbling results.

I'm grateful for the goal and I document it, then I move on to the next objective goal I find it inspiring to achieve. The bigger your vision the more grateful you become. The smaller your vision the more elated you become.

How can I find a direction in life that will be aligned with my highest value?

It would be wise to first identify what your highest value is, then ask yourself what it is that you would absolutely love to do, decide how to get handsomely paid to do it, and then work on structuring a plan to fulfil it.

Can you recommend replacing a so-called ‘bad’ habit with an objective goal-achieving behavior, like swapping Facebook for reading a meaningful, quality or classical book?

If you’re getting value from Facebook because your highest value is socializing, then it’s not as simple as deciding to read a book if reading is not your highest value.

If social media is providing you with more advantages than disadvantages, you will continue to do it.

It would be wise to be honest with yourself when setting your objective goals, instead of just picking one. Look at what your life demonstrates.

Any time you want to raise a goal up on your value list or a value on your value list, begin stacking up the benefits or the advantages of doing the actions steps that will help you fulfill what you would love to raise on the list - because when the WHY is big enough, the HOW takes care of itself.

For example, you could write twenty five higher value linked reasons why reading a book is going to help you in the areas that you know are important to you. This will raise up your value on reading that book when you see that you’ll get an advantage in your most important areas of your life by doing so.
