There are 1000s of tips and gimmicks showing you how to lose weight but the truth of weight loss is that it has to start with addressing you and your inner world.

Below Dr John Demartini shares some tips and ideas on how to lose weight wisely.

Lose Weight with a Busy Day

If you want to lose weight the sensible way, then one of the wisest things to do to is to identify what is really most important to you, what is really highest of your values.

Then structure and fill your day with high priority actions.

"When you fill you day with high priority actions, automatically you will feel more inspired and you are thus more likely to eat moderately."

Added to that, your hormones are more likely to be balanced and you’ll be less vulnerable to volatility and diet, less vulnerable to immediate gratification and addictive behaviors or overeating disorders.

So if you want to lose weight then you need to remember that when you fill your day with things that inspire you and you are so busy that you don’t have time to eat, then you’ll eat to live instead of live to eat.

As a result, you are more likely to keep a moderate eating pattern.

Avoid Excessive Exercise

In some cases, exercise regimes can also stimulate more eating to compensate for the extra energy expended and thus can be sometimes self-defeating.

My recommendation if you want to lose weight, is to do moderate exercise because moderate exercise and moderate eating works as a wise team.

Lose Weight with Fulfillment

Stress underlies many health concerns.

A stressed state of mind impacts our physiology. When you feel optimistic your metabolic rate rises and you can lose weight eating the same amount of food.

When you feel pessimistic your metabolic rate falls and you can gain weight eating the same amount of food.

If you are not fulfilled and you feel stressed out you can sometimes eat to calm yourself and sedate your inner frustration. Setting realistic expectations on yourself and others helps reduce stress and moderates eating patterns.

Align your goals with your most important values, then you have a better chance of achieving them.

If you are serious about losing those kilos and keeping them off, you will need to remodel your value structure to include weight loss as a top-priority item, thereby bringing your actions into alignment with the things that are most important to you.

Only then do you have any hope of achieving this goal.

Manage Your Emotions

If eating helps you deal with negative emotions, what other coping mechanisms can you turn to that don’t involve food? If eating calms you, ask how else can you be soothed without devouring a box of biscuits?

Once you get to the emotional core of your mindless, compulsive or even addictive eating, will you be liberated from its faulty perceptions and find a healthier substitute for the unconscious benefits it provides.

Learning how to see the upside of life’s downside will enable you to handle life’s challenges rather than sidestepping them with food.

So if you want to lose weight wisely, then start with you:

"Be inspired, keep busy, manage your emotions and keep the principles of moderation in mind. Eat moderately, exercise moderately, sleep moderately and emote moderately."

That way you’ll be focused on your goals and vision and fill each day with inspiration instead of having to seek the sweetness of life as a substitute in the form of food.
